According to local Chinese media on the 20th, bamboo shoots fumigated with sulfur were produced in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province. Authorities sealed the product and launched a police investigation. Some processing shops ,,, fumigated bamboo shoots overnight with sulfur to whiten them and store them long-term. One sample contained about 4860mg/kg of sulfur dioxide, which is more than 24 times the national standard limit of 200mg/kg. Sulfur dioxide is classified in Group 3 ( not classified as carcinogenic to humans), but it is a highly toxic substance, and high residues can cause gastrointestinal irritation or respiratory problems. Authorities have seized and sealed illegal processed ingredients and products, and have taken legal action against those involved . They have also taken urgent measures and are urgently tracking distribution channels. Fortunately, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 20th that "Chinese bamboo shoots are not imported into Korea as agricultural products." However, they stated, "Some processed Chinese bamboo shoot foods, such as canned goods, are being imported," and added, "We have conducted sulfur dioxide inspections on processed foods during the customs clearance stage, and in addition, we will add manufacturer-specific inspections for processed bamboo shoot foods for a certain period." It hasn't been revealed, but Chinese food should be tested first. Haven't they played all sorts of tricks, especially fresh food!!!!!!
