Recently, a post was posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside the making-of video for the 2009 drama 'Boys Over Flowers' (Flower Boy), claiming that the newly coined term 'Yar' was already in use back then. In the ,,, video, actress Lee Min-jung asks a child actor, "Do you know 'Yar'?" and the popular phrase 'Yar,' which the teens and twenties say when they're in a good mood, actually appeared in the video from 15 years ago. It has become known that 'Yar' has been used for nearly 20 years, causing a stir in online communities. At that time, 'Yar' expanded beyond a simple exclamation to include predicates like 'Yarhada,' becoming a trendy word across generations. Actor Bong Tae-gyu said that last May, he first used 'Yar' as an ad-lib line for the 2003 film 'Affair Family' on SBS Radio's 'This Beautiful Morning, This Is Bong Tae-gyu,' and that he has previously been described in mass media as the 'originator of Yal.' In January 2006, the portal site Naver Open Dictionary listed 'Yar' with the explanation that 'Yar' is used to mean 'good' among teenagers, and in the 105th episode of MBC's variety show 'Infinite Challenge: The 1st Infinite Creative Children's Song Festival' aired in May 2008, there is a scene where broadcaster Jung Hyung-don sings while shouting 'Yal.' It is also noteworthy that the recently used 'yar' has a different usage than in the past, and in the 2000s , the early 'yar' was limited to a one-time exclamation expressing joy or excitement, like "Ah!" or "Nice!" On the other hand,,, On the other hand, the current generation in their teens and twenties has expanded grammatically by adding the suffix '-hada' to positive descriptive words that describe the state or attributes of an object, such as "this food is yalha" or "atmosphere yarham." Experts point to the vast accumulation of 'digital archives' as the background for the   resurgence of these slang phrases, and that past slang has not faded into oblivion but is preserved in online spaces, laying the foundation for them to be recalled at any time.
